Mākoura College capped off a standout touch season with a commanding 10–1 victory over Te Kura Kaupapa o Wairarapa to win the 2026 Wairarapa Secondary Schools Touch Competition (Competitive Boys Grade).

Beyond the scoreboard, the team’s success reflects a season built on commitment and development. The group competed in the College Sport Wellington Senior Touch Championship, tested themselves against strong opposition, and continued to grow throughout.

A unique feature of this squad has been their involvement in officiating, with players completing the Touch NZ Foundation Referee Course through the Mākoura Touch Programme. This has helped deepen their understanding of the game and sharpen their decision-making on the field.

The result is a well-rounded, high-performing team that combines strong game awareness with skill execution — a formula that delivered a well-deserved regional title.
