2026 TIMES AND DATES

2026 Times and Dates

Our school day is designed to make learning purposeful, connected, and engaging. Students begin their day in Period 1, followed by Waka Huia – a dedicated time for year-level connection, collaboration, and community building. The day then continues through Periods 2, 3, and 4, with a balance of core learning, creative projects, and hands-on experiences. Each period has been deliberately structured to maximise focus, wellbeing, and momentum.

The school year is organised into three trimesters, giving students the chance to explore a wide range of learning opportunities and progress at a pace that suits their strengths, interests, and pathways. This structure allows students to refresh their course choices throughout the year and continue building a personalised programme that aligns with their goals.

Across the year, there are off-timetable weeks where students step out of normal classes to take part in whole-school learning experiences, extended projects, community events, and real-world opportunities. These weeks create space for deeper learning, authentic challenges, and shared school culture – a chance for students to grow, connect, and shine beyond the classroom.

At Mākoura College, 2026 is all about meaningful learning, flexible pathways, and a school rhythm that supports curiosity, confidence, and a strong sense of belonging.
