Mākoura College’s Junior Outdoor Education class traded the classroom for the coast, enjoying a beach day out at Castlepoint in the stunning Wairarapa.

With the weather turning it on, students were treated to ideal conditions for a day of sun, sand and surf. The group made the most of the opportunity, developing their confidence in the water while learning and practising new surf skills.

Laughter, challenge, and plenty of salty air made for a memorable day, as students pushed themselves outside their comfort zones and embraced everything the coast had to offer.

The trip was another great example of Outdoor Education in action — building skills, confidence, and connection through real-world experiences.
