Food and Hospitality

Food Technology
Year 10 

Students develop their skills through a full year course. This course teaches students Food and nutrition and Product Development. They will study the impact of food choices on health and well-being in a range of contexts including, but not limited to, nutrition for growing teens, food and hygiene safety, and influences on food choices. 


Food Hospitality
Year 11 

This course is for a student who has a genuine interest in gaining skills and knowledge in food preparation, food safety, Food and nutrition and the Hospitality industry.  

Students will gain the confidence to experience new tastes and food preparation methods. 

Assessment: This course utilizes Unit standards from Service IQ, the ITO in charge of the Hospitality industry.

Food Technology/Food and Nutrition 
Year 12 & 13 

Food Technology is for a student who has a genuine interest in gaining skills and knowledge in food preparation, food safety, food and nutrition, the functional properties of food and the development food products. 

Students will gain the confidence to experience new tastes and food preparation methods. 

Students will use the design process as a framework to develop food products; they will learn how to modify existing recipes and be encouraged to create their own recipe design for different occasions. 

On-going critical evaluation during the development of the outcome is an important part of the process to ensure the outcome is fit for purpose. 

Assessment: A combination of Internal and External credits will be offered. Students will work toward gaining 18 to 20 credits in their personalized program. A student must achieve an external achievement standard to enable them to gain a course endorsement.
