East FM is Makoura College's Contemporary Hit Music Radio Station broadcasting 24/7 from our transmission site right here in the school grounds.

You can tune in on 88.1FM from your home and/or car radio.  Our coverage area is about 3 - 5 kilometres from the school, but some geographical or building features around the town can interrupt our signal.  Basically, if you are close to the college you'll be able to tune in.

We play Top 40 Tracks, New Music and a few Old School Hits.   As well as playing non-stop music, we have Media Studies students presenting shows throughout the week.
Nearly 50% of New Zealanders will experience difficulty with a mental health problem in their lifetime, with 1 in 5 New Zealanders experiencing mental health challenges this year.

When we go through tough times in our lives many of us tend to keep it to ourselves. So chances are there is someone in our life who isn't coping or who is feeling alone. No one in this world should feel like they can’t talk or ask for help if they are suffering from a mental health difficulty.

The aim of the “24 Hours For Mental Health” radio marathon campaign, led and organised by Seni Iasona, is to allow people to talk about the issues and spread positive awareness in a fun and interactive way.

Seni says “let’s not be ashamed and let's talk about it”. For Seni “it’s time to open the door and discuss mental health in our community”

Seni will host the broadcast for the entire 24 hours and be joined by a series of co-hosts and guests.
