When and where do I learn?
Students usually spend one day a week at their Trades course, and four days at week at school.

Learning through U-Skills Trades Academy
Year 12 and 13 students have the opportunity to attend the U-Skills Trades Academy offered at UCOL and gain additional credits towards NCEA and tertiary qualifications while at school.  The learning options are at the end of this page.

Learning through PITA
Year 12 students have the opportunity to begin a two year programme of agricultural studies through PITA (Primary Industries Trades Academy) at Taratahi. The credits earned on this course contribute towards their NCEA qualification.  Future pathways include studying with Taratahi, attending university or entering the agriculture industry.

Entry Criteria
There are entry criteria for these courses. Full details can be found in course brochures available at school from the download link below. 
Some criteria, but not limited to, are:
  • students must be continuing their education at school
  • prerequisites of NCEA Level 1 Literacy and Numeracy
  • students must demonstrate a commitment to remaining at school and studying towards NCEA
  • students must have endorsement from their whanau and school principal
